A Hobbit’s Holiday

The subtitle of Bilbo Baggins’ memoirs

After his adventures on the Quest of Erebor, Bilbo Baggins wrote an account of his experiences with Thorin and Company. The title he chose was, in full, There and Back Again, a Hobbit's Holiday, a title given in typical Hobbit fashion, jokingly comparing the dangerous events of the Quest to an idle excursion. Bilbo eventually completed the tale of his 'holiday'; it became part of the Red Book of Westmarch, and went on to form the basis of the book we know today as The Hobbit.
