Hamson Gamgee

Hamfast Gamgee’s eldest son

The eldest son of Hamfast 'Gaffer' Gamgee and Bell Goodchild, Hamson was therefore an elder brother of Samwise Gamgee of the Company of the Ring (he was in fact fifteen years older than Sam). Hamson would have been born and brought up in Hobbiton - probably at Number Three, Bagshot Row. In later life, Hamson removed to Tighfield, where he became a roper with his uncle Andwise, the elder brother of the Gaffer.
