King’s Host

The Full Muster of Rohan

A term for the full armed might of Rohan under the command of the King of the Mark. In theory, the King's Host (or Éoherë) consisted of one hundred éoreds, and each éored contained some hundred and twenty Riders, so the entire Host would in principle have been twelve thousand strong. In fact no such great Host had ever been gathered in the history of Rohan. Even the greatest Full Muster of the Riders, the force who rode to the relief of Minas Tirith in the War of the Ring, consisted of less than seven thousand Men.
