Laughter

Lalaith, daughter of Húrin and Morwen

Túrin was the eldest child of Húrin Thalion and Morwen Eledhwen. When he was two years old, his parents had a second child, a golden-haired daughter, whom they called Urwen. The child was given to laughter, which reminded the people of Húrin's household of the sound of the bubbling stream Nen Lalaith that ran nearby. From it Urwen gained a different name, Lalaith, which means Laughter.

The laughing child did not live a long life; when she was just three a pestilence came out of Angband known as the Evil Breath. Both Túrin and Lalaith fell ill, but of the two children only Túrin survived the disease.
