The people of Marach were one of the Three Houses of Men to enter Beleriand and ally themselves with the Elves who fought against Morgoth. The people of this house served Fingolfin in the North, and so greatly did he value their service that he granted Hador (the great-great-grandson of Marach) the title of Lord of Dor-lómin. After that time the house became commonly known as the House of Hador, and its people the Men of Hador's House.
