Dedicated to Menel, the Heavens, Ormenel was the fifth of the six days that made up the week of the Elves. Ormenel is the Sindarin form of the name: in Quenya it was known as Menelya. In Middle-earth, the Shire-hobbits translated its name into the Common Tongue to ultimately become Hevensday, a day approximately corresponding with modern Wednesday.
