The Dead of the Haunted Mountain

The name used, at least among the people of the Morthond Vale, for the cursed shades of the Men of the Mountains, who haunted the Paths of the Dead beneath the White Mountains. They were said at times to leave their mountain homes and gather around the Stone of Erech, and it was there that Aragorn brought them during the War of the Ring. Securing their allegiance, he led them away eastwards into the War, where they fulfilled their ancient oaths and were granted peace at last.
