Tarinya

‘My Queen

A title used in Númenor when addressing its Queen, and meaning literally 'my Queen'. We have only a single record of its use, in an address by Erendis to Almarian, who was Queen to Tar-Meneldur, the fifth King of Númenor. The term is comparable to familial terms like onya 'my son' or atarinya 'my father', which may imply a certain level of affection in its use rather than formality (Erendis was at this time close to Almarian's son Aldarion, and the two would shortly become betrothed). However, the fact that only a single use is recorded means that generalisations are difficult to make.
