A rare title for Beleg, the Elf of Doriath who was more commonly known as Beleg Cúthalion or Beleg Strongbow. All of these titles allude to his favoured weapon, Belthronding, a great black bow of yew-wood. Beleg was a warden of the borders of Doriath, and he discovered the young Túrin as the child sought to enter Thingol's realm. As Túrin grew, the two became great friends, and for a time they jointly ruled Dor-Cúarthol, the Land of Bow and Helm, which took its name in part from Beleg's fame as an Archer. In a tragic error, Beleg was unwittingly slain by Túrin, who in grief buried his friend the Archer with his famous bow Belthronding beside him.
