This land was famous for the culumalda trees (laburnums) that grew there, and from those it took its name (which means 'ring of gold'). Within the land of Cormallen, near the banks of the Great River, was an open sward known as the Field of Cormallen, and it was there that the overthrow of Sauron was celebrated after his defeat in the War of the Ring.
