The northern parts of the Forest between the Rivers1
A vast and dense forest that lay to the south of Beleriand, stretching from the Mouths of Sirion in the west as far as the River Gelion in the east. Being bordered by the Sirion and the Gelion earned it the Elvish name of Taur-im-Duinath, translated as 'Forest between the Rivers'. It was never claimed or occupied by any of the powers of Beleriand, and it was said that its only inhabitants were scattered bands of Dark Elves. Even the Orcs of Morgoth stayed away from its wild depths. The Forest between the Rivers was lost when the Great Sea drowned Beleriand after the War of Wrath. Notes
