Gold-worm of AngbandA title of Glaurung, Father of DragonsBattle-cry of the Men of Hithlum
From the Narn i Chîn Húrin in Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth A title given in mockery to Glaurung, most fearsome of the Dragons of the First Age, by the Men of Hithlum. It seems to be a reference to the colour of the Dragon's hide (elsewhere he is called Glaurung the Golden, implying that his scales were golden or yellow in colour). After his invasion of Nargothrond, Glaurung showed the same greed for gold that was common in others of his kind, giving an alternative (and rather less likely)1 reason he may have gained the name 'Gold-worm'.
