Lightfoot FamilyA family of the Shire-hobbitsA little-known family of the Shire. Its only recorded member was Nina Lightfoot, who married into the Bolger family when she wed Theobald Bolger. Through this marriage, the Lightfoots became remotely connected to the Bagginses, because Nina's son Wilibald married Prisca Baggins. 'Lightfoot' is in fact a real family name, meaning simply 'nimble-footed'. Though the origins of the name within the Shire are not explained, it seems reasonable to assume that it carried a similar meaning. Notes
