Lord of the Galadhrim

A title of Celeborn

The Galadhrim ('Tree-people') were the native Silvan Elves of Lórien, who had dwelt in that land since long before it was even given that name. Their last King, Amroth, was lost in the year III 1981, and some time after that Galadriel and Celeborn came to the land and took over its rule. From then on Galadriel was known as the Lady of the Galadhrim, and Celeborn as the Lord of the Galadhrim; collectively they were referred to simply as the Lord and Lady.

For a detailed list of the known Lords of the Galadhrim, see the entry for Lord of Lórien.

Notes

1

The title 'Lord of the Galadhrim' was only explicitly given to Celeborn, who had taken up the rule of Lórien with his wife Galadriel after III 1980. The Galadhrim as a people dated back much farther than this, having their origins among the Silvan Elves who had abandoned the Great Journey to settle in the forests of the Vales of Anduin. Prior to III 1980, they had been ruled by Amroth (who is not directly given the title of 'Lord of the Galadhrim', but would surely have claimed it). Amroth in turn was the descendant of earlier lords, but here the record becomes murky, with his predecessor being named Amdír in some sources, and Malgalad in others.
