Morwen

The date of Morwen's birth appears on a genealogical chart in volume XI of The History of Middle-earth. It is not therefore strictly canonical, but the date of I 443 fits well with other established events.

In The History of the Hobbit, John D. Rateliff suggests an interpretation of the name Morwen as 'daughter of night', and this is entirely reasonable based purely on the elements of her name. However, in the essay Quendi and Eldar in volume XI of The History of Middle-earth, Tolkien gives an explicit interpretation of the name: 'Túrin's mother was named Morwen, 'dark maiden', because of her dark hair...'.
