The RedA title of the Ring of FireNarya the Red was one of the Three Rings of the Elves, also called the Ring of Fire, and set with a ruby (from which it doubtless took this title). The Red Ring was sent to Gil-galad to protect it from Sauron, and it passed from Gil-galad to Círdan and eventually to Gandalf, who bore it for some two thousand years until the War of the Ring. It was taken into the West alongside the White Ring and the Blue when the Three Keepers set out from the Grey Havens. For acknowledgements and references, see the Disclaimer & Bibliography page.
