Veil of ArdaThe airs of the worldIn the Elves' conception of Arda, the world was surrounded by layers of airs, surmounted by Ilmen, the highest of these airs, in which the stars pursued their paths through the sky. It was these airs that comprised the Veil of Arda, by which it was shrouded from the Void beyond.
