Arnach

The flowery vale west of Minas Tirith

Map of Arnach

The wide valley of the upper River Erui, that lay south and west of Mount Mindolluin and Minas Tirith. Arnach was an ancient name for this valley, in use before the Exiles of Númenor founded their kingdom of Gondor, and the meaning of the name is now forgotten. The valley was famous for its flowers, and the Gondorians modified its name, adding the Elvish word for 'flower', to give this land its better known name, Lossarnach.
