The eastern entrance to the ancient Dwarf-kingdom of Khazad-dûm, standing at the head of the valley of Nanduhirion (Azanulbizar in the Dwarvish tongue).
Notes
1 |
We have almost no specific information about the building of Khazad-dûm, but we do know that Durin began its building after viewing a crown of stars in the Mirrormere. That lake lay below the mountainside where the East-gate stood, so presumably Khazad-dûm's eastern entrance was one of the oldest parts of the entire underground city.
