Elves of HarlindonThe people of Lindon south of the Gulf of LhûnAfter the sinking of Beleriand at the end of the First Age, most of the remaining Elves of Middle-earth gathered under the rule of Gil-galad in the land of Lindon, west of the Blue Mountains. That land was divided into two parts by the wide Gulf of Lhûn, and the southern and smaller part was known as Harlindon (simply from the Elvish for 'south Lindon'). Harlindon was noted as being populated mainly by Sindarin Elves, and these would include many of the survivors of Doriath who had afterward dwelt by the Mouths of Sirion. One of these was apparently Celeborn, a kinsman of King Thingol. For a time, it seems that Celeborn ruled the people of Harlindon as a separate land under the overall rule of High King Gil-galad.1 Notes
