HerubrandA warrior of RohanOne of the Riders of Rohan who travelled with Théoden to the relief of Minas Tirith. We know little of Herubrand's life except that it ended in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields fighting the forces of Sauron. His name was recorded in the Song of the Mounds of Mundburg long after the battle, suggesting that he was a noble or lord of some kind. His name 'Herubrand' appears to come from Old English heoru brand, meaning 'sword of fire'. See also...For acknowledgements and references, see the Disclaimer & Bibliography page.
