Morgul Valley

The valley where Minas Morgul stood

A deep valley in the western side of Ephel Dúath, cut by the stream known as the Morgulduin, at the mouth of which stood the dread city of Minas Morgul. The Valley was more commonly known as the Morgul Vale, and both names were partial translations of the Elvish Imlad Morgul, literally the 'valley of black magic'. The valley led on eastwards into the Mountains of Shadow, and ultimately made its way to a pass that allowed Sauron's servants to move between the interior of Mordor and the city of Minas Morgul.
