The outlaws of Ladros One of the men of Barahir's house who remained with him in Ladros when Morgoth overwhelmed Dorthonion. He survived until only a final twelve companions remained to Barahir, but he was slain, along with all the others but Beren, after their camp at Tarn Aeluin was betrayed by Gorlim the Unhappy. The meaning of his name is open to question, but it seems to mean 'roof' or 'sun-shade'. The relevance of this is unclear, but perhaps his name is a hint that Urthel was an unusually large or tall Man). Notes
