Anórien

The lands around Minas Tirith

Fiefs and regions of Gondor

That region of Gondor that lay at the eastern feet of the White Mountains, land under the direct control of the city of Minas Anor (later Minas Tirith).

Anórien's name is connected with that of Anárion, Elendil's younger son, and also Anárion's city of Minas Anor. All these names have connections to the Sun, and reflect their opposites across the Great River. There, Isildur dwelt in Minas Ithil within the land of Ithilien, whose names all derive from the Moon.
