A group of three or four days of feasting and celebration that fell between two months in the middle of the Hobbit-calendars. In the Shire, these Summerdays had come to be known as the 'Lithedays'. The name 'Summerdays' was preserved in Bree, however, where they fell between the months of Lithe and Mede. In a typical year there were three Summerdays, of which the central one was Mid-year's Day. Every fourth year, however, was a leap year, in which the number of Summerdays would be extended to four.
