AlcarinThe true heir of Tar-VanimeldëTar-Vanimeldë was the third Queen to hold the Sceptre of Númenor, but she cared little for her royal duties, and gave them over to her husband Herucalmo. Their son was Alcarin, who was by law his mother's heir, and should have become King of Númenor on her death. Instead, Herucalmo seized the Sceptre for himself, clinging to the reins of power under the name Tar-Anducal. After twenty years, Tar-Anducal died in his turn, and Alcarin finally came into his inheritance, ruling Númenor under the name of Tar-Alcarin. Notes
