Fathers of the NúmenóreansA name for the Edain
A title used of the Men of the Three Houses of the Elf-friends, the first of their race to enter Beleriand in the First Age, who allied themselves faithfully with the Elves they found there. They fought alongside the Eldar against Morgoth, and as a reward the Valar created a new home for their surviving descendants: the isle of Númenor amid the Great Sea.
