Mountain of Manwë

The peak of the Elder King

Map of the Mountain of Manwë

A name for Taniquetil, the immense White Mountain that stood among the range of the Pelóri, protecting Valinor against possible dangers from the east. On the summit of the Mountain was Ilmarin, the mansion and halls of Manwë the Elder King and his spouse Varda Elentári. The slopes of the Mountain beneath Manwë's halls were home to many of the Vanyar, after they removed there from Tirion to dwell in the Light of the Two Trees.
